STOP WITH THE MADNESS.

Over the recent weeks awareness has been raised on the rising cases of rape we have been reading and hearing about especially in relation to black women both home and Abroad. No one is left out both young and old women are being raped and molested by men on the daily basis and women are speaking out against this life-scarring act. Whilst this was going on there were still new rape cases being reported and some of these cases eventually also included the murder of the victims, there were also cases of rape Victims who came out to call out their sexual molesters and rapists. A lot of men also came out to speak on the issue as well as share their experiences while emphasising that male children should also be educated and protected from sexual abuse.

Now whilst this was ongoing some groups staged peaceful protests in their local areas to raise awareness against rape and it was quite a commendable act, Good Job Guys!!!

Now this is where it gets interesting.
During the protests by a group here in Lagos, I saw a video clip of a man who came and confronted the protesters accusing them of taking money from men and that they deserve to be raped for trying to play smart with men. It then hit me that this was probably the mentality and view of a majority of men concerning rape, also I saw the story of a three-month-old baby girl that was raped, an 11 year old that was gang raped and also the story of a 68 year old woman that was raped and I thought, are there really any reasons for rape? is it really because of a dressing?
is it because of an issue you have with a lady you decide to rape her? Or is just a function of gross irresponsibility and growing madness in the society?

I believe that if you have an issue with a lady what you should do is to try sort it out, you can argue or disagree and try coming to a settlement but having to rape a lady as revenge is criminal and irresponsible of anyone. Having an issue with someone is not a reason to rape the person.
Manner of dressing or relationship status and not guaranteed reasons to force anyone to have sex with you. There is actually no reason to force sex on anyone.

We have also seen cases of house helps molesting young boys so rape is not limited to the female gender alone. Recently also there was a case of a 19-year old girl named Toyin Salau, in Tennesse, USA who was out protesting for the black lives matter cause and she was also dealing with molestation issues personally and she could not stay home at the time so she was staying at a church. During the protest she met a man who agreed to shelter her for the night after hearing her story, she agreed to stay at his place and the same man who was also black person like her molested her that night. Two days after she went missing and her body was recently found dead along with her friend. You intentionally commit an act you know is bad and start seeking extreme measures to cover up even to the extent of committing murder. I do hope that both her accused molesters are apprehended and picked up.

If you have ever raped someone or sexually molested someone perhaps out of youthful exuberance or some influence and you are a changed person now, I think the right thing to do is to reach out to that person and try to right the wrongs, try to apologize and try to make it up today rather than seeking revenge or trying to deny the act hence making the person feel worse and used. Let us also endeavour to raise boys and girls who respect themselves and people's boundaries. You can have consensual sex but forcing yourself on anyone is a dehumanising thing to do and some people never heal from it.
