With less than 72 hours to the much awaited MAMA awards, which is one of the biggest music awards on the African continent. Here is a quick rundown on what we need to know.
The event will be taking place at the Ticketpro Dome, Johannesburg on 22 October 2016, with South Africa's Trevor Noah as host and guest appearance from mama 2016 nominee for best international act, "Future", the event promises to be one of the biggest on the African continent this year.
Ticket sales are still on via http://mama.mtv.com/ for 250 rand as well as voting for your favorite artistes so as to enable them win the awards for their various categories.The event will also feature thrilling performances from Africa's' finest artistes which include Yemi Alade, Nasty C and Babes Wodumo among others.
The awards features various artistes from all parts of the continent and various categories which include; artist of the year which features Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Black Coffee, Diamond and Sauti Sol. Song of the year which features Shakitibobo by Olamide, Reggae Blues by Harrysongz, My woman My everything by Patoranking, Godwin by Korede Bello, Ngud by Kwesta, Roll up Re-up by Emtee, Soweto Baby by DJ Maphorisa, Baddest by AKA, Wololo by Babes Wodumo, Coller le Petite by Franko, and Unconditionally Bae by Sauti Sol. Best video category includes "if i start to talk", "jump"," caviar dreams", "kisasi kumi", "niquer ma vie". Best female category includes Tiwa Savage Yemi Alade, Josey, Mz Vee, and Vannessa Mdee.
