GETTING OVER THAT HEAVY FEELING

Elders from my place have a saying that the thorn often hurts the most at the point where it is almost completely pulled out of a skin. This comes from the illustration that, in a scenario where the skin has been pierced by a thorn and the thorn has to be taken out, there is a much sharper pain being experienced once the thorn is almost completely pulled out.

This saying is often used to admonish and encourage one feeling very tense or overwhelmed as well as one feeling hurt or under some sort of pressure at a particular time. The same can also be said about work. Sometimes the most stressful part of a job is the finishing part especially when you are about to deliver your finished results or submit your reports, that is when you feel most overwhelmed and sometimes under pressure. It is not necessarily a bad feeling, it is just another feeling that would pass with time, hence does not need to linger or stop you from doing what should be done.

Sometimes in life you also get this type of sharp feeling when you are quite unsure of the possible effects or outcomes of certain steps you are taking or are about to take or decisions you are about to make. You may feel this type of way when in a position to make certain decisions such as whether you should go on, start over, rebrand or re- strategize or even certain minor decisions such as sending a message or deleting something. Depending on the surrounding circumstances you may feel some type of complete or heavy overwhelming feeling when making certain decisions and I would like to let you know that it is completely normal and happens to almost everyone especially when you are on the path of doing something great and remarkable. Transitioning from the norm will definitely require some adjustments and this may require some getting used to.

Take time to think through when feeling overwhelmed, rather than give up or give in, if anything that is the moment you may need to be more persistent.

Almost every story I have read on great people had them going through this phase at some point in their life but one thing that worked for them was that they never gave up or gave in to those moments and eventually their breakthrough comes shortly after those moments. So do not be scared, there is a great person inside of everyone and it takes a lot to tap into and bring out that greatness and this is most likely not going to be a task for just anyone, you will need to train yourself for what may lie ahead. Do not allow yourself to be held back or limited by your feelings but rather hold still and stay persistent, do not give up or give in because the thorn is definitely coming out and even though it may hurt, once it is pulled out, you will heal and become a much better version of yourself.
